a few drawings

Here are a few watercolors from my travels in the 4 corners region of the US over the summer. I presented them as part of a departmental lecture recently. They are part of a study of the lines, colors, layouts, sections, etc of the landscape and ancient Puebloan ruins of the area.

little known facts...

Even though I've been neglecting this outlet (it's legit though--I am dying of busy-ness!!) I woke today to find a couple emails about comments and one of them said I was tagged for a game by MODNAROS of wEtsy Behind the Ears

6 Random things about me (only 6?!)

1. I put weird little things on my 'to do' list just so I can check them off and feel like things are getting done, even when they aren't (example: brush teeth. shower. print out paper for class.)

2. I freak out about beautiful days. In public. I don't care who looks at me funny.

3. I am just now getting pretty ok at catching things, at almost 21 years of age. oops.

4. I don't like to let my feet dangle over the edge of a bed or couch because someonen/thing will grab them.

5. I don't know/care where I end up after college at the moment. It's all one big adventure right now.

6. I am horrible at making decisions. Nose goes for anything in my book. What do I want for lunch? Please, tell me, because I don't know and won't decide anytime soon.

I would tag people but I really don't have any blog buddies since I'm so sporadic....but I'll try to think of some and get back to this!!!

Thanks, it was fun!

look what i found!

I have been finding cool pottery and china shards in my yard since I can remember. Marbles and bricks, too. Once I even found a whole china tea cup handle, all blue and white. Yet I still feel a rush each time something new shows itself after a rainfall. I love old homes. My latest find is this lovely piece--I would love to finish it and make it a pendant or SOMEthing...any ideas? It's maybe 2-2.5" at its widest.

summer at its end

So I don't have anything really to report. My super-huge summer-long independent study project is due a week from yesterday. uh oh. I move back in at school a week from today. double uh oh. BUT I just found out that the 12+ pages worth of paper I was working on isn't necessary (not sure if I should be happy or furious) and I really am done except for a few drawings. And most of my stuff never got unpacked from school...so that just means I'm ahead of the game now, right?

Nothing fun to post, so I found this online. I might have to do this on a regular basis, REALLY fun.

Open iTunes, hit 'shuffle' and fill these in. Try it, it's kinda eerie how it works out sometimes, and other times you're sitting there scratching your head. I also highly recommend all of the songs that came up, so double plus.

soooooo

I sold my first item on Etsy! What a feeling! I'm pretty sure she got the best customer service ever, I'm not sure how many times I said 'thanks' in my convo. As soon as I saw it, I wrapped it up, boxed it, and headed to the post office to beat the noon-hour rush! I was even thrilled to fill out the customs form (overseas shipping)! ANNDDD I made a ton of progress on my huge research paper that has been giving me such issue lately! Now I want to sit down and make some more things to put in my shop...however I need to pound away at this paper first :(

BUT I have an awesome idea that I'm going to try out this weekend involving plexiglass and empty slides....and a dash of silver spray paint....let's hope it works out as well in reality as it does in my braincells!

a return

it's been a while since i've posted...much more traveling this summer than i anticipated. i hope to have a few photos up soon to summarize that. i've also been busy getting back into making things-jewelry, magnets, sewing 'worry dolls', crocheting/knitting coffee sleeves, etc...so perhaps i will have some of those up soon, as well!

clifton

my extensive random/useless photo collection and photoshop should really not be on the same computer as my 3D modeling programs...too much of a distraction. i will call it practice and experimentation to justify the above. not all of them were altered (save the contrast/brightness) but i did play around with filters on some, though not extensively.

Some library sketches for my studio and a couple of postcards I found in an antique shop. The Dorset Hotel was a "modern 450 room house of the finest type", half a block from fifth ave., "a step from the smartest shops." The other was just funny.

that 70s show

these have been in the antique shop for at least 6 months now and i've always talked myself out of buying them...but for $6 for a set of 10 (there are 2 of each fruit) i couldn't say no any longer! i can't wait to use them!!!! so cheerful, the lemon is my favorite. i admit this is a bad picture, they are actually really bright, happy colors.
