a few drawings

Here are a few watercolors from my travels in the 4 corners region of the US over the summer. I presented them as part of a departmental lecture recently. They are part of a study of the lines, colors, layouts, sections, etc of the landscape and ancient Puebloan ruins of the area.

little known facts...
6 Random things about me (only 6?!)
1. I put weird little things on my 'to do' list just so I can check them off and feel like things are getting done, even when they aren't (example: brush teeth. shower. print out paper for class.)
2. I freak out about beautiful days. In public. I don't care who looks at me funny.
3. I am just now getting pretty ok at catching things, at almost 21 years of age. oops.
4. I don't like to let my feet dangle over the edge of a bed or couch because someonen/thing will grab them.
5. I don't know/care where I end up after college at the moment. It's all one big adventure right now.
6. I am horrible at making decisions. Nose goes for anything in my book. What do I want for lunch? Please, tell me, because I don't know and won't decide anytime soon.
I would tag people but I really don't have any blog buddies since I'm so sporadic....but I'll try to think of some and get back to this!!!
Thanks, it was fun!

summer at its end
So I don't have anything really to report. My super-huge summer-long independent study project is due a week from yesterday. uh oh. I move back in at school a week from today. double uh oh. BUT I just found out that the 12+ pages worth of paper I was working on isn't necessary (not sure if I should be happy or furious) and I really am done except for a few drawings. And most of my stuff never got unpacked from school...so that just means I'm ahead of the game now, right?
Nothing fun to post, so I found this online. I might have to do this on a regular basis, REALLY fun.
Open iTunes, hit 'shuffle' and fill these in. Try it, it's kinda eerie how it works out sometimes, and other times you're sitting there scratching your head. I also highly recommend all of the songs that came up, so double plus.

clifton

my extensive random/useless photo collection and photoshop should really not be on the same computer as my 3D modeling programs...too much of a distraction. i will call it practice and experimentation to justify the above. not all of them were altered (save the contrast/brightness) but i did play around with filters on some, though not extensively.

that 70s show
these have been in the antique shop for at least 6 months now and i've always talked myself out of buying them...but for $6 for a set of 10 (there are 2 of each fruit) i couldn't say no any longer! i can't wait to use them!!!! so cheerful, the lemon is my favorite. i admit this is a bad picture, they are actually really bright, happy colors.

sans scanner
i don't know how to work the scanner here (it's got a temper) so these will have to suffice as my efforts for the last few days. photo sketches, i'll call them.

a visit to the library and a distraction
standing in a narrow alley looking up, detail of various connections, sketches demonstrating layers of neighborhood, and random 2 minute exercise with newspaper clippings piled on my desk.

landscapes class

this is meant to show my impression of the path between 2 lines of trees taking on a vertical quality due to perspective and the verticality of the trees.

these are a series giving my impression of important elements of site at the Acropolis, from figure-ground to view studies.

sketches of a colonnade to echo the lines of the wood line nearby

more of the same.

impressions of falling water

sections drawn from experiencing a procession through a space

phinda getty house--framing the landscape

varying colors in a distant treeline.
